Sediment Control Commission

Overview

The purpose of the Sediment Control Commission is to carry out the appeals and general directives included in the county’s Sediment Control Ordinance, including: 

  • Providing direction and policy for the sediment control program
  • Making decisions on matters concerning forfeiture of surety, civil and criminal penalties, or injunctions against individuals in violation of the Ordinance
  • Hearing appeals based on the disapproval or modification of an application for a permit to conduct land-disturbing activities by the Inspector
  • Hearing appeals as to the determination of forfeiture of applicable surety
  • Appeals related notices of violation for failure to maintain existing sediment-control structures or ground covers after completion of the project; or for existing uncovered areas subject to continued erosion
  • Appeals based on the Inspector's disapproval of a plan pursuant to GS Section 154.40(H)
