Family Planning Services

Haywood County Health and Human Services provides voluntary and confidential family planning services to females and males of childbearing age, including teens.

Appointments

Appointments are required except for emergency contraception. 

Call 828-452-6675 to make an appointment. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, with evening clinic hours available the second Thursday of each month by appointment. Interpreter services are available at no cost.

When you come to your appointment, bring:

The family planning clinic provides services and education materials funded, in part, by Title X.  Cost is based on a sliding fee scale, based on your family size and income. No one is denied services because of inability to pay.  All forms of Medicaid are accepted.  Some private insurances are also accepted.  Call for details.

Services Offered

  • Contraceptive and birth control options include:
    • Abstinence
    • Condoms
    • Depo injections
    • Long acting reversible contraception (allows women to choose 3, 5 or 10 year methods, from IUD’s to implants)
    • Options for oral contraceptive pills, Nuva-rings, patches
    • Plan B with counseling
  • Diagnosis and treatment of common female/male sexual health issues and STD’s
  • Education and counseling on methods of birth control
  • Immunizations
  • Multi vitamins with Folic Acid
  • Natural Family Planning counseling and referral
  • Physical exams (includes history, physical, lab work, referrals to WIC and Medicaid if appropriate.  Medical guidelines recommend that PAP smear screenings begin at age 21)

  • Pre-conceptual counseling (discussion and education about the number and spacing of children)
  • Pregnancy counseling
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Referrals are made for:
    • Addiction, domestic violence, and mental health concerns
    • Dental needs
    • GED
    • Infertility services
    • Mammograms
    • Medicaid
    • Prenatal care
    • Primary provider services
    • Skin disorders
    • Smoking cessation
    • Tubal ligations and vasectomies
    • Various community services and resources, depending on patient’s individual needs
    • WIC
