Step outside and enjoy the summer weather with this interactive storywalk. All month long, visit the Giving Garden at the Canton branch to read the pages of Bee Dance. Complete the storywalk and answer a question or two on the tracker form for a chance to win a special prize! It’s warming up outside and the Haywood County Public Library would like to invite you to join the Summer Reading fun! There’s something for all ages during the months of June and July. You’re invited to attend our in-person programs and performances, as well as pick up free take-and-make kits full of crafts and DIY projects. You can register for Summer Reading beginning June 1st and pick up your challenge sheets and starter bags at all library locations. There will be lots of great prizes for those who participate in the reading challenges! Young readers, children, teens, and adults who finish will have a chance to win one of our grand prize gift baskets, full of great goodies and passes! Summer Reading ends on July 29th.

The library has partnered with the NC Museum of Art to bring you a special craft kit! Get creative and inspired by renowned NCMA art and artists in the comfort of your own home. This activity kit comes with materials plus written instructions for a complete hands-on project! This program is ideal for children ages 6 and up. Take & Make Kits will be available to pick up at all library locations, while supplies last. Kits cannot be reserved over the phone. Join us for this special STEAM program where you can learn all about lighthouses while doing a fun, hands-on engineering activity. Participating will give you the opportunity to develop your design, building, and evaluation skills. The individual or team who creates the tallest lighthouse structure will receive a prize.
