Winter is upon us, which means it’s time for the annual Winter Reading Challenge! Pick up a BINGO tracking sheet from any branch and see how many fun tasks – such as reading while drinking hot cocoa or reading inside a pillow fort – you can do! The Winter Reading Challenge will run from December 1 to January 31. Turn in your completed BINGO sheet at the Waynesville or Canton branches for a free book and a chance to win the grand prize basket full of goodies! Haywood Hospice and Palliative Care is sponsoring a Community Grief Gathering at the Canton branch on the 2nd Wednesdays of January, February, March, and April beginning at 1:00 PM in the auditorium. Each month will feature a different grief topic. January—Understanding the Grief Experience, February—Handling the Difficult Emotions of Grief, March—Caring for the Whole Self, April—Preparing for Special Occasions. Sign-up for one-on-one, in person technology help at the Canton branch. Staff will be available by appointment to answer questions and assist you in the use of computers, smartphones, tablets, and e-readers.
