  4. VIRTUAL PROGRAM: Canton the Rest of the Story: 1940 Flood with Bill Roland

    January 11, 2022, 9:00 AM - 9:15 AM

Bill Roland shares his memories of the 1940 flood in Canton. Bill was a young child during the two back-to-back 1940 floods. He lived in the Champion Mill town of Fibreville which was totally engulfed by the Pigeon River when it grossly overflowed its banks. This is the first of a three-part series of narratives on flooding in Haywood County. Filmed in partnership with the Canton Area Historical Museum. Access virtual program beginning January 11 at https://my.nicheacademy.com/haywoodcountypl and on Facebook. For more information, email Caroline Ponton, Canton Area Historical Museum, at cponton@cantonnc.com or email Jennifer at jennifer.stuart@haywoodcountync.gov or call 828.356.2561.
